You already know that installing a patio or hardscape is a job best left to the professionals, but what do you ask patio contractors as you start getting quotes?

The last thing you want is to be left with a project that takes far longer to complete than expected or is a poor quality product.

But before we get to the patio contractor questions to ask, let us share a recent project with you that’s near and dear to our hearts.

Maine Library Patio Installation & Dedication

If you’ve ever visited the Parsons Memorial Library in Alfred, Maine, you know the beauty of this building.

In August, the Greencare team was honored to complete a beautiful patio project for the library. Even more powerful, we’re proud to announce that the front flower garden we donated was dedicated to Kent Leboeuf.

Kent was an active member of the Alfred community, particularly in the church and community events. Though he passed in 2014, we hope his memory will live on in the garden.

What’s more, Kent Leboeuf was the stepfather of our President and CFO, Paul Beaver. Paul was able to surprise his mother, Lisa, at the library dedication with the special surprise for her late husband.

4 IMPORTANT QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR PATIO CONTRACTOR

If you’re in the market for a new patio, you may be wondering where to start. There are so many options to choose from, so it can be challenging to know what’s suitable for your space.

That’s why it’s essential to ask your contractor the right questions before making a decision. By taking the time to ask these four questions, you can be sure that you get a patio that meets your needs and exceeds your expectations.

1. Are you and you licensed and insured?

Protecting your property is essential, and making sure your contractors are licensed and insured is the best way to do so.

When acquiring quotes for your patio project, make sure to ask each contractor if they are licensed and insured. This will protect you from property damage or anything you aren’t satisfied with.

If the contractor isn’t licensed or insured, you could be held liable for any damages that occur. In addition, make sure to ask for references and check them before hiring anyone. By taking these precautions, you can protect yourself and your home.

2. Do you offer a guarantee?

When you’re looking for a patio contractor, one of the most important questions to ask is whether or not they offer a guarantee on their work. This is a big question to ask because a guarantee can protect you from having to pay for repairs if the work isn’t done correctly.

A good patio contractor should offer some sort of guarantee, whether it’s a money-back guarantee or a warranty on the workmanship. If a contractor doesn’t provide any type of guarantee, that should be a red flag that you’ll want to look elsewhere.

When you find a contractor that does offer a guarantee, make sure to ask about the details so that you know exactly what’s covered and what’s not. By taking the time to ask this important question, you can help ensure that you’re getting quality artistry on your patio.

3. How do you prepare the foundation?

When looking for a patio contractor, it’s important to ask about the preparation for the patio foundation. Find out what kind of foundation process the contractor will use and how they plan to stop weeds from growing on your patio and prevent them from moving over time.

A good contractor will be able to show you their plans for preparing the foundation and preventing these kinds of issues. Make sure to get all the details in writing before you make your final decision.

4. Do you have patio design experience?

Patios can drastically improve the look and function of your outdoor space, but only if they are designed and installed correctly. That’s why it’s so important to find a patio contractor you can trust to help you create the perfect patio for your home.

The best contractors will take the time to get to know you and your property, understand your vision for the space, and offer advice on how to achieve it best. They’ll also be open to making changes along the way, ensuring that you’re happy with the final result.

So when you’re ready to start planning your dream patio, make sure to ask potential contractors: “will you help me design my patio?” Only then can you be confident you’re working with someone who has the experience and expertise to deliver the perfect patio for your home.
